general maintenance
« on: April 08, 2010, 05:40:35 PM »

Hi, I picked up 2 starter kits beginning the middle of February. So 4 batteries, 4 atomizers and many carts.

It seems that 3 of the 4 atomizers have failed and the last 1 isn't producing hardly any vapor.

What's mthe life expectancy on the different parts?

I've cleaned the atomizers and battery contacts with 91% alcohol.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

What are you using for e-liquid? Have you tried cleaning your atomizers in a bowl of alcohol? Atomizers usually last quite a few months....in fact I've only had a couple die on me in all my months of use.

Yes, I've let them soak as long as 8 hours, blew them out and let them dry.

OK, a lot more detail; I get accused of being to brief.

I've been using Tobacco and now am using Smoke. I used a little of my wife's new apple Cinnamon.

3 of my atomizers do not even get warm to the touch, the other gets really hot. I used Adam's method to remove excess e-liquid. That seemed to help with the one that does heat up.

I've been a 2 pack a day smoker and am down to 3 packs a week. I do love vaping.

Would you consider doing a webinar and taking questions after explaining how to keep our units working? Maybe an evening or Saturday?

Adam's the expert here and he's in his final semester of law school so just doesn't have time for anything more at this time....it's always a possibility in the future.

I realize this is a potentially silly question, but I want to be clear for myself and others reading this thread.  When you refer to 'alcohol', are you referring to grain (booze) alcohol or rubbing (iso / first-aid) alcohol?
Thanks

Not a silly question at all  :). We use isopropyl alcohol to clean our atomizers

Adam's out of town and I'll let him answer when he gets back.......but, I've found that I can expect my atomizers to last at least 4 months and sometimes longer. You aren't either letting them get too dry or flooding them, are you?
