eCigs give users the ability to use "the force"
« on: July 24, 2009, 12:18:55 AM »

So, I was in Walmart the other day, vaping away, and this guy came up behind me.  He must have been a manager or a security person, 'cause he didn't look like an "average" Walmart employee.  Anyway, I hear a voice from behind me say loudly "There's no smoking inside this store."  Now I could have responded in any of a number of ways, but I used my old standby: "I'm not smoking."  How did he respond, you might well ask...  He just replied "oh, ok,"  And he walked away....

Now maybe it's just me, but I suddenly felt as though I had mastered the "Jedi Mind Trick":

Huffy Employee: "Sir, you can't smoke in here!"
Jedi Master (Me): "I'm not smoking."
(No longer) Huffy Employee: "You're not smoking."
Jedi Master (Me): "You're going to leave me alone now."
(Pleasant) Employee: "I'm going to leave you alone now.  Sorry for the inconvenience."

What really made the encounter odd was the fact that he never even made sure I really wasn't smoking - If I still smoked, I'd try this with a real cigarette to see if it still worked.

Just been vaping a lot at work, reactions have all been positive so far except for one guy who complains about it, but I just think he does that just to complain. He complains about everything. But e-cigs truly are a fantastic conversation piece/starter. I couldn't take one vape without someone asking me about it. Use in public is it's own advertising...

As far as Jedi mind tricks go, I don't think Walmart takes care of anyone well enough for anyone to care about anything. Today I got carded at a local grocery store and the girl asked me if I was over 21. I said, "yes... do you want proof?" But no one making minimum wage really cares too much 30min before closing
